AEPi's original 13-minute musical "Revenge of the Jocks" was awarded first place among all singles shows at last weekend's CMU Greek Sing competition. A parody on the hit movie "Revenge of the Nerds," AEPi's show chronicled an epic battle between nerds and athletes over the beautiful (and only) girl at CMU. The final result was a smashing success due to many hours of hard work put in by the brotherhood. Next stop: Booth and Buggy at Carnival 2008!
This February, 16 Brothers traveled to Ohio state university for the Midwest region's Conclave 2008. Once we were there, we led two "breakout sessions" on Scribe and Member at Large, and attended numerous other informational sessions. The amazing weekend was highlighted when we received the best delegation award during the farewell banquet! This was the second year in a row that we were rewarded for our efforts at conclave, and everyone is looking forward to next year.
Our chapter once again hosted this year’s Wing-A-Thon eating contest for charity. 24 teams of four or five participated in the event, a competition to eat the most buffalo wings, 15 of them representing Greek organizations at CMU. A Nintendo Wii was awarded to the overall winning team, the Flaming Drama Queens, who ate 221 wings. Sigma Nu Pledges and Sigma Nu A came in second and third with 205 and 204 wings, respectively. Members of the CMU swim team from the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority won the women’s division after eating 130 wings, followed by Delta Gamma and the Kappa Konquerors. All proceeds, which totaled over $1000, were donated to Chai Lifeline (an organization that helps children with serious illness), the Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
Our chapter received four awards at the national Alpha Epsilon Pi convention this past weekend in recognition of our accomplishments last year:
- The Allan R. Wolfe Outstanding Chapter Publication Award for our annual alumni newsletter The Hammer
- The Stanford & Schelia Odesky Award for Outstanding Rush Results for initiating 20 new brothers over the fall and spring semesters
- The Philip H. & Susan Cohen Award for Jewish Communal Service, recognizing our deep involvement in the local Jewish community
- Membership in the Millennium Club, granted to chapters that have raised over $1000 for the National Philanthropy -- we raised over $2000.
AEPi officially unveiled their brand new buggy Zephyrus over the weekend at the annual CMU sweepstakes race, improving their best race time by a whopping 25 seconds. The gain earned the team the Chairman's Choice Award!
For their booth this year, AEPi built a fully-functional, 20-foot high CMU-themed pinball machine, complete with detailed models of various campus buildings and an enormous electronic scoreboard. The game was fun for all and was awarded the second place prize in the fraternity competition.
The brothers of AEPi are proud to announce that they have been honored with the Best Fraternity award by the CMU Interfraternity Council. Thanks to all that made this past year such an outstanding success!
The invitations for the 20th Anniversary Party on April 21, 2007 have been sent out.
Once again, we led the entire greek community with the highest GPA in the Fall '06 semester with a 3.36. This is also higher than the campus average.
We have 18 incredible pledges this semester. We look forward to having the Alpha Iota Deuteron pledgeclass become brothers and help us build a stronger Jewish house for the future.
